Congress Excursion, Trailing Conservation-Restoration Projects of the IPCHS Restoration Centre in the Lower Carniola Region

From prehistory to modern times, Lower Carniola (Slovene: Dolenjska) has been a unique region among other Slovene counterparts. The picturesque landscape of rolling hills, scattered vineyards and cottages is defined by very important cultural heritage monuments, from outstanding finds from the Late Iron Age and Roman period to numerous fortresses, castles and churches.

A full day’s Congress excursion (included in the Congress fee) exploring the inspiring cultural landscape of the Lower Carniola will start on Wednesday, the 4th of September, at 9.00 o’clock. Our visit to the Castle Rajhenburg, Valvasor’s house in Krško, Brežice CastleKostanjevica Monastery and Božidar Jakac Art Museum will be guided by mag. Gojko Zupan (Ministry of Culture, Slovenia) and Alenka Železnik (Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Regional Office Ljubljana).
